Hello,

I have found a woodblock that I can’t identify.  Ukiyo-e website does not recognize it either.  If you can help, I would appreciate it very much.

It's the left sheet of a kabuki triptych by Kunisada I, here signing "Toyokuni ga". Depicted is Fujikawa Kayū III as Akogi no ikiryō (阿古木ノ生霊) in the play "Genji moyō furisode hinagata" performed at the Ichimura theatre in 9/1851. Publisher is Yamadaya Shōjirō; censor seals Fuku and Muramatsu.
The complete triptych is in the database of the MFA Boston (inventory number 11.44063a-c, but at the moment the server is out of order ("The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.").

Wow!  Thank you, Horst, for the VERY detailed information!  I am a smarter and more informed woodblock lover now.

      Steve
