Hey Guys! I’m new to this forum, but I thought maybe I find some help here. I recently bought an ukiyo-e but I don’t know the artist, nor the time. I assume it’s Edo Period. And a Japanese colleague told me that this picture is a part of an old Japanese tale of revenge.

The print is by Utagawa Kunisada and it depicts Act 8 of the play Kanadehon Chushingura. (The story of the 47 Ronin-- a revenge play indeed.) In this scene, Konami and her mother Tonase stop to view Mount Fuji on their way to reunite Konami with her lover Rikiya. I believe this series dates from the 1840s.
