Dear specialists,
could you help me to identify artist and title of this triptych? I can’t find any other copy. I think it’s from Kunisada?
Best regards, Stefan

The print is by Kunisada I; the signature is on the left "Ichiyōsai Toyokuni ga," and in the middle and on the right "Kōchōrō Toyokuni ga."
A further sheet with the title may be missing on the right-hand side.
The print depicts actors (unidentified) on an outing.
The publisher is Moriya Jihei, and the censor's seal is Fukatsu (dating the print to 1845/46).
Thank you very much for your kind help, Horst! I didn't know, that a four sheets arrangement is possible. I thought that this triptych is complete and hoped to find his title on it. I will look for a second copy of the print now supported by your identifications. Best regards, Stefan
There does not necessarily have to be a fourth or even a fifth sheet; the arrangement of the signatures is unusual. Until now, I was only aware of these three sheets, which I found as separate prints in various sources.
I’m really interested in that, Horst! If it’s not too much trouble, could you give me an example of a polyptych with four or five panels? And where did you spot individual panels from my triptych? Best regards, Stefan
The center sheet was sold in 2000 by arteilno, the left left and right sheet I found at Yahoo Japan some years later.

Examples for four, five and six panels actor prints.
Beautiful prints, thank you for showing examples, Horst! And I will follow your informations! Best regards, Stefan
Unfortunately, I can’t access the links, Horst! Neither Yahoo Japan nor Artelino are taking me where I want to go. And I’ve also got a technical problem, lovely as this discussion page is: I can only view the images in a much smaller size. Is that down to my browser?
Sorry, it wasn't Artelino, but rather the predecessor to that online auction site: Ukiyo-w World. It hasn't been active for a long time. Yahoo Japan is now geo-restricted and inaccessible in many European countries; you would need to use a VPN. But even that wouldn't help in this case—those sales certainly aren't archived there.
Right, I suppose I’ll have to give up then, Horst. But thanks again for your invaluable support on so many fronts! Best regards, Stefan
